What is the best VA Hospital in the Washington DC area? There are several, and I was curious how I might find out which is the best and the worst one to enroll in around the greater DC area. Pesonal experience, or word of mouth, or Doctor to patient ratios might be some ways. Any suggestions?

I need the know the easiest and least expensive ways to do this. Hotels in the area (near VA Martinez hospital) would be really helpful too. I will arrive at the airport, stay one night, go to the VA the next morning, and leave that same evening. Any ideas?

I know there are some good VA Hospitals , but there are some very bad ones too, and they only take care of veterans, I can't imagine how it would be with everyone on that same type system. Now in the VA you get a pair of eyeglasses every two years, regardless if you break them, lose them , whatever, you have to wait 2 years to get another pair, most of the time it's 30 days before you can get an appointment, (unless going thru the E.R.) and you don't get to choose your doctor

If we closed all the VA hospitals and gave all military/veteran personnel a insurance card. They could visit any doctor, any hospital, and receive the same care as civilians. Would this improve their healthcare system? What are your thoughts?
